The film Love and God had ill fate, it was to star Guru Dutt in the male lead and Nimmi in the female lead. However, in 1964, the lead actor Guru Dutt died and shooting came to a halt. K Asif recast Sanjeev Kumar in the male lead and resumed production of the movie. During the production of the film, K. Asif died on March 9, 1971 and the film was abandoned. Later Asif's widow Akhtar Asif revived the film and it was released incomplete in 1986 because later in 1985, Sanjeev Kumar also died and most of the dubbing part of Sanjeev kumar done by someone else including few scene.
